Overview

This role offers a fully remote position based in Brazil within the real estate and construction sector. The Financial Controller will lead the transition from outsourced accounting to an internal finance function, managing all accounting operations and financial reporting directly under the CFO. The position is contract-based full-time, with a remuneration range of $2,000 to $4,000 USD per month and requires immediate availability to work US business hours. English proficiency at an advanced level (C1/C2) is mandatory.

Primary Responsibilities

Ownership and management of the General Ledger ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
Maintenance of the Chart of Accounts and oversight of monthly close processes including reconciliations.
Leading the shift from outsourced accounting to an in-house finance team.
Preparation and review of monthly financial statements, Profit & Loss accounts, and executive reports.
Supervision of Accounts Payable and Receivable, including invoice, payroll, expense, and vendor payment reviews.
Guidance of the bookkeeping team to maintain high standards.
Cash flow monitoring, bank reconciliations, and tax reporting coordination.
Ensuring compliance with financial policies and maintaining absolute confidentiality of sensitive financial data.

Required Qualifications

Proven work history as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with full General Ledger ownership.
Expertise in month-end close and detailed financial reporting.
Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software.
Experience managing accounting or bookkeeping teams.
Strong foundation in accounting principles and controls.
High ethical standards and discretion in handling confidential information.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
Self-motivated with the ability to operate effectively in a remote setting.
Professional-level English communication skills.

Preferred or Advantageous Skills

Experience managing transitions to in-house accounting functions and process improvements.
Familiarity with project accounting tools like BigTime or similar software.
Background in professional services, construction, architecture, or design industries.
Exposure to luxury architecture, interior design, or upscale residential projects highly favored.
Possession of CPA or equivalent certifications is a plus.
