Overview

The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Supervisor operates within the Vehicle Logistics Department and takes charge of overseeing, implementing, and enhancing the pre-delivery inspection workflow for vehicles across Europe and other pertinent markets. As the organization expands its operations, this role is vital to guarantee that inbound, stored, and outbound vehicles satisfy set quality benchmarks prior to delivery.

The position encompasses planning inspections, overseeing quality control, reporting issues, liaising with suppliers, and improving processes through every stage of vehicle logistics. Serving as a key operational and quality liaison, the supervisor collaborates with Vehicle Logistics, PDI coordinators, logistics service providers, compounds, Quality, Service, Sales, and Delivery teams to ensure a seamless, scalable, and superior-quality vehicle flow from factories or headquarters to dealers and customers throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, supervise, and document pre-delivery inspections for newly arrived vehicles, stored stock, and vehicles due for dispatch.
• Oversee vehicle inspection procedures including checks for exterior and interior damage, component and accessory verification, managing damage claims, software updates, language configuration, and all other related PDI duties.
• Manage PDI activities conducted by internal staff or external third-party logistics providers.
• Delegate and oversee third-party inspectors as needed.
• Continuously enhance PDI and quality control processes across designated European ports and compounds.
• Compile comprehensive reports detailing PDI outcomes, vehicle quality, damage detections, and recurring issues.
• Detect trends and emerging quality concerns during inspections and perform root cause analyses.
• Collaborate closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to address and resolve identified inspection issues.
• Keep precise records of vehicle arrivals, PDI completion rates, and vehicles ready for delivery.
• Monitor vehicles on hold and ensure timely completion of corrective measures to facilitate delivery readiness.
• Coordinate with Delivery, Sales, and Service departments to integrate operational needs into the PDI workflow.
• Develop strong partnerships with logistics service vendors to ensure clear comprehension, prioritization, and execution of requirements.
• Ensure all vehicles meet both internal policies and external standards before proceeding with PDI and delivery.
• Immediately escalate any concerns regarding vehicle quality or compliance.
• Mentor and coach PDI coordinators to uphold company quality benchmarks, PDI protocols, and delivery standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing delivery quality, speed, transparency, and efficiency.
• Perform duties both from the headquarters and various compounds across Europe, with anticipated travel exceeding 50%.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in automotive services, vehicle inspections, quality control, PDI, vehicle logistics, or aftersales operations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle inspection criteria, PDI workflows, damage evaluation, delivery standards, and quality assurance methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with logistics providers, compounds, inspection agencies, or aftersales partners is beneficial.
• Capability to identify quality defects, assist in root cause investigation, and oversee corrective initiatives.
• Skilled in developing, documenting, and refining operational procedures, inspection protocols, and working guidelines.
• Practical familiarity with vehicle operation, light machinery, and suitable power tools.
• Interest or background in IT systems related to transport management or vehicle logistics is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external service partners.
• Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, with a strong commitment to complete tasks thoroughly.
• Efficiently handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
• Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to work effectively in developing processes.
• Team-oriented with leadership capabilities to support and direct PDI coordinators.
• Proficiency in German and a good command of English; knowledge of an additional European language is preferred.
• Valid driving license, category B, is mandatory.
