Role Overview
The Estimator – Joinery will be critical in creating precise and commercially competitive cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documents for bespoke joinery and custom furniture projects. The role requires close coordination with Design, Production, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure estimates are technically accurate, financially viable, and consistent with the company’s quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and quotes for bespoke joinery, millwork, and custom furniture assignments.
- Analyze architectural drawings, AutoCAD shop drawings, project specifications, and tender documents to understand project scopes and pricing needs.
- Execute thorough quantity take-offs covering wardrobes, kitchens, wall panels, doors, cabinetry, vanity units, loose furniture, and other customized joinery elements.
- Conduct sourcing and evaluation of material, hardware, subcontractor, and supplier prices to ensure competitive and viable quotations.
- Prepare complete tender submissions within specified deadlines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to validate manufacturing techniques, installation needs, and project feasibility.
- Spot opportunities for value engineering that preserve design intent, functionality, and quality standards.
- Maintain updated records of material costs, labor rates, subcontractor charges, and supplier quotes.
- Assist in project handovers by delivering detailed cost breakdowns and clarifications as needed.
- Monitor market trends, pricing shifts, and industry changes to enhance estimation precision and competitiveness.
Requirements
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in estimation within a joinery manufacturing environment is essential.
- Proven track record in pricing bespoke joinery and custom furniture projects.
- Strong knowledge of joinery products such as wardrobes, kitchens, doors, wall paneling, cabinetry, vanity units, loose furniture, and bespoke millwork.
- Comprehensive understanding of materials including MDF, plywood, veneers, laminates, solid timber, Corian, HPL, and premium hardware brands like Blum, Häfele, and Hettich.
- Ability to interpret AutoCAD shop drawings, technical joinery details, and architectural blueprints accurately.
- Familiarity with joinery manufacturing processes, production techniques, machinery, and installation protocols.
- Good insight into UAE market pricing for joinery, labor costs, subcontractor and supplier ecosystems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
- Experience with estimating software will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional detail orientation and the ability to operate under tight deadlines with high accuracy.
