Equipment Supervisor

Position Overview

This role is responsible for supervising the operation, upkeep, and staffing involved in rubber removal and surface cleaning on runways, taxiways, and aprons at Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport. The position ensures strict adherence to aviation safety regulations, optimizes equipment functioning, and coordinates cleaning schedules to maintain runway friction levels and continuous readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate preventive maintenance with the Motor Transport Section to ensure timely servicing of pavement maintenance machinery.
• Manage breakdowns and corrective repairs by liaising with the Motor Transport Section to reduce downtime and maintain equipment availability during critical periods.
• Oversee scheduled inspections and monitoring for equipment such as rubber removal units, sweepers, and friction testers to guarantee operational safety and readiness.
• Keep detailed maintenance records including parts replacements and performance indicators for analysis.
• Organize and provide operator training focused on equipment use, safety protocols, and best practices for various machinery.
• Collaborate with your line manager to prepare Equipment KPI reports that track performance and support continuous improvements.
• Supervise inventory management of spare parts, consumables, and tools to optimize stock levels.
• Engage with suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, calibration, and upgrades.
• Operate mechanical sweepers and rubber removal machinery as needed, demonstrating practical competence.
• Analyze equipment availability and service schedules to ensure efficient airfield equipment utilization.
• Lead adverse weather recalibration drills and update operators on emergency procedures to strengthen preparedness.
• Communicate proactively with operators to ensure understanding and execution of work plans for optimum team performance.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks to uphold the highest safety standards and prevent incidents.
• Perform additional departmental duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum Qualifications: High School, Vocational, or Diploma with at least 3 years relevant experience; Bachelor's degree preferred with at least 2 years of related experience.
• Proven supervisory experience in airfield maintenance spanning 2-3 years.
• In-depth practical and theoretical knowledge of airfield pavement equipment like sweepers, friction testers, and rubber removal devices.
• Awareness of local statutory obligations and Code of Practice regulations.
• Formal certifications or training in equipment operations or maintenance.
• Experience managing multiple airport environments.
• Familiarity with emergency response planning and handling adverse weather conditions.
• Capability to supervise both internal operators and outsourced contractors.
• Competency in personnel scheduling and daily operational management.
• Ability to generate a variety of operational and maintenance reports.
• Skilled in interpreting specifications, manuals, and preventative maintenance checklists.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
• Solid understanding of airport operational limits and safety protocols.
• Keen attention to detail during inspections.
• Demonstrated leadership with a strong customer orientation.
• Proactive and responsible work ethic preferred.
• Familiarity with airside facility regulations and ICAO standards.
• Comprehensive knowledge of airfield safety procedures.
