Internship Role Overview
This internship offers a hands-on experience within the Transmission & Distribution team, supporting substation design across Australia and New Zealand. Interns work closely with experienced professionals conducting primary and secondary substation electrical design tasks including grounding, lightning protection, and introductory power systems analysis. The role offers real project exposure and opportunities to participate in site visits and testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of primary and secondary substation design inputs and assist in drafting sections of reports and specifications under guidance.
- Create and simulate substation electrical models for primary studies using specialized software.
- Participate in supervised site visits, including soil resistivity tests, and gather field data for design purposes.
- Assist construction phases by providing support and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams during project delivery.
- Contribute to preparing budget estimates and ensuring project outputs meet established timelines, quality, and cost targets.
Internship Program Details
- This is a 12-week paid internship running from mid-November to mid-February.
- Interns gain meaningful project experience, applying academic learnings to practical work on significant infrastructure projects.
- Participants access a series of presentations from senior leaders offering insights into career pathways and technical expertise.
- Interns collaborate with graduates, experts, and industry leaders within a global consultancy framework.

Candidate Qualifications and Eligibility
- Applicants should be in the penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Applicants must hold full legal rights to work in New Zealand.
- Interns must be available to work full-time from 16 November 2026 to 19 February 2027.
- Strong communication and teamwork capabilities, adaptability, professionalism, integrity, curiosity, and enthusiasm for applying studies in a real-world environment are expected attributes.
