Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop comprehensive electrical design and drafting outputs for both onshore and offshore facilities. You will work closely under the supervision of the Lead/Principal Electrical Engineer and collaborate with various other engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update electrical layouts and 2D/3D models encompassing equipment placement, lighting systems, small power installations, earthing, lightning protection, and cable tray routing.
• Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, interconnection details, and termination drawings critical for project execution.
• Prepare lighting loop diagrams, cable routing plans, material take-offs (MTOs), bills of materials (BOMs), and support procurement and construction activities.
• Design equipment layout drawings for switch rooms and topside modules, coordinating closely with mechanical, structural, and instrumentation teams.
• Apply and enforce project and client standards, ensuring compliance with international standards like IEC, IEEE, IS, and BS, along with internal company procedures for all deliverables.
• Incorporate clash-free routing and enhance constructability by utilizing 3D design tools such as AVEVA E3D, PDMS, or equivalent software where applicable.
• Participate actively in design and model review sessions focusing on electrical layouts and cable routing aspects.
• Provide support for resolving site queries, red-marking as-built drawings, and updating final documentation accordingly.

Qualification and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• At least five years of practical experience in electrical design for sectors such as oil & gas, offshore platforms, power plants, or comparable industrial projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D design tools such as AVEVA E3D, PDMS, SP3D, or MicroStation is highly desirable.
• Sound knowledge of medium and low voltage distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, and routing principles.
• Familiarity with international standards including IEC, IEEE, IS, BS, and common client specifications specific to oil & gas and power industries.
• Ability to interpret vendor drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement (GA) drawings, and interface requirements from other engineering disciplines.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork capabilities, with the capacity to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to project timelines.
