About the Role
Green Tape Solutions, an environmental consultancy based in Brisbane servicing Queensland and New South Wales, is seeking a skilled Ecologist to join its expanding team. The company focuses on environmental assessments and ecology to assist clients in planning and managing urban and natural environments, fostering sustainable and liveable communities. This full-time position involves working remotely from home, with preference for candidates located along Queensland's eastern coast, ideally in South-east or Central Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ecological and environmental field assessments and surveys.
- Deliver professional technical expertise and maintain high standards for clients and team members.
- Work independently within designated responsibility areas, managing portions of ecological projects.
- Author comprehensive reports and documentation, including Flora and Fauna Impact Assessments, Ecological Assessments, Bushfire Reports, Vegetation and Biodiversity Management Plans, and Development Constraints Reports.
- Provide support in drafting Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports, Species Impact Statements, and referrals under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
- Report to Senior Ecologist or Environmental Manager.
Candidate Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science or related fields such as ecology, zoology, or botany.
- At least four years of relevant professional experience, including work in consulting or government sectors.
- Proven ability to prepare and review ecological reports compliant with Council planning schemes.
- Familiarity with Queensland and/or New South Wales planning and biodiversity legislation, as well as Commonwealth EPBC Act provisions.
- Experienced in GIS mapping and analysis related to ecological data.
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing projects, including development applications and environmental approvals.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
- Experience in bushfire assessments is highly valued.
- Proficiency in spatial analysis using GIS.
- Self-driven with the ability to work effectively from home.
- Possession of a current Class C driver’s license (manual or automatic) and capability to operate a 4WD vehicle.
- Reliable internet and phone connection in a distraction-free home work environment.
