Overview
NUVIA is seeking a dedicated Document Controller to support the ILIOS consortium—comprising Kier–NUVIA JV, AECOM, AL_A architects, and Turner & Townsend—as part of the STEP Fusion Programme, located in West Burton, Nottinghamshire, UK. This on-site role offers a starting salary of £37,000 and focuses on managing all documentation associated with a cutting-edge fusion power plant project targeting 2040. The initiative is backed by significant government funding and represents a major leap towards low-carbon energy, creating thousands of jobs and long-term opportunities in the sector.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold document control procedures, including metadata standards.
- Manage receipt, registration, tracking, and distribution of project documents.
- Ensure proper formatting, version control, and storage in designated electronic document management systems (EDMS).
- Oversee document workflows, ensuring timely reviews, approvals, and closures.
- Administer project EDMS platforms such as Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint, SharePoint or equivalents, providing user support, training and troubleshooting.
- Maintain data integrity, audit trails, and ensure compliance with information governance policies.
- Perform regular document quality checks ensuring adherence to naming conventions, revision controls, completeness, contractual and regulatory standards.
- Produce reports on document compliance, status, and system metrics; escalate overdue actions as required.
- Support project change control by updating documentation to reflect approved alterations.
- Coordinate assurance activities including gateway reviews, and contribute to project governance and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with project management controls and capture all project changes with project control teams.
- Proactively manage project risks and issues including identification, mitigation, record keeping and escalation.
- Provide guidance and coaching to project teams, facilitating communication of organizational updates relevant to project delivery.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a Document Controller or in information management within construction, engineering, or large-scale project environments.
- Proficiency in utilizing EDMS software such as Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint, BIM 360, or SharePoint.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail and ability to handle large volumes of documentation under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills capable of engaging effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes and information governance standards.
- Experience on large infrastructure, construction or engineering projects is advantageous.
- Familiarity or experience in the fusion energy sector is a plus.
- Vocational qualifications in administration or project support, and certifications in document control or information management are beneficial.
- Degree-level education or relevant professional experience is required; STEM or construction-related degrees are preferred.
