Designer

Role Overview

As a Designer at Crate & Barrel, you will help customers explore design possibilities using current home trends. You will develop meaningful, ongoing relationships by advising on everything from entire home setups to individual accent pieces. Your expertise will span across a variety of styles, from traditional to modern, and you will apply digital design tools to support both in-store and in-home consultations, helping customers realize their design visions.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate sales and elevate customer experience through personalized design consultations onsite, virtually, or in-home.
• Produce sophisticated designs including moodboards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product lists, and presentations using preferred design software.
• Lead design meetings and communications via phone, email, or video conferencing platforms.
• Manage projects ensuring timely delivery within set deadlines.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across various channels such as stores, e-commerce, and catalogs.
• Stay informed on product details including characteristics, care requirements, and competitor/industry trends.
• Achieve personal sales targets, KPIs, and productivity measures while actively engaging customers on the sales floor.
• Listen attentively to customer needs to recommend appropriate products and promote company loyalty offerings such as designer rewards and credit programs.
• Exemplify exceptional customer service by demonstrating positivity, enthusiasm, and efficiency in all interactions.
• Contribute to staff training by educating team members about design services and offerings.
• Build and maintain a robust client network through networking and clienteling techniques.

Candidate Profile

• Foundational understanding of design principles including spatial planning, fabric and lighting selection, and knowledge of interior design styles.
• Strong communication skills to accurately convey the brand vision and customer needs.
• Comfortable utilizing technology including 2D and 3D design tools, Google suite, video conferencing software, iPads, and proficient in floor planning.
• Maintain awareness of current design trends and adapt quickly to evolving business needs.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in furniture sales, home decor design, or retail/customer service roles.
• Demonstrated experience working individually with clients to suggest appropriate solutions.
• Familiarity with Google platforms, virtual communication methods, and preferred design tools.
