Daycare Kitchen Assistant

Job Overview

As a vital member of the Kids & Company team under the direction of the Centre Director, you will support the daily kitchen operations aligning with the organization's mission. Your duties encompass food preparation, cooking, and maintaining stringent food safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Receive meals and snacks, accurately portion them, and distribute food safely and punctually to classrooms.
• Assist with preparing food, including tasks like cutting fruit, and provide various kitchen support functions as needed.
• Prepare and arrange meal service supplies such as bins, serving utensils, and delivery carts.
• Collect used dishes, utensils, and meal service materials from classrooms.
• Clean, rinse, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, serving tools, and food trolleys in compliance with food safety protocols.
• Maintain a hygienic, well-organized kitchen environment by cleaning work surfaces, equipment, storage areas, and serving items.
• Help organize, store, and rotate food inventory and kitchen supplies.
• Strictly adhere to food safety, sanitation, allergy awareness, and workplace health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the Cook and Centre Director to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Perform any other duties required to support kitchen functioning.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Kitchen Assistant.
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory.
• Possession of a current Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience working in a daycare setting is considered advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving abstract are required.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Successful clearance of a criminal background check is necessary.
• Physical capability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.
