Datacenter Operations Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Datacenter Operations Engineer based in Frankfurt, Germany, to manage the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of datacenter infrastructure. The role involves hands-on work with servers, storage devices, network, security equipment, and third-party vendor hardware following deployment and change specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, rack, and cable datacenter hardware including servers, storage, network, and security devices while performing initial configuration per deployment guidelines.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair hardware and peripheral issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Maintain ideal environmental conditions within equipment rooms, including cleanliness, temperature regulation, power management, and coordinated downtime scheduling.
• Keep meticulous records of inventory, asset labels, decommissioned equipment, spare parts, and update hardware and cabling data within tools such as DCIM, CMDB, or other asset management systems.
• Manage logistics for shipping, receiving, and distribution of datacenter equipment, ensuring adherence to IT policies, compliance protocols, clean-desk policies, and dual-authorization controls.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated practical experience in datacenter operations covering installation, racking, cabling, and maintenance of servers, storage, network, security, and vendor equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of CAT5/6/7 cables and fiber optic connectivity, including basic device configuration and thorough power and connectivity planning.
• Proficiency in using DCIM, CMDB, or asset management tools within a production environment.
