Data Scientist / BI Analyst

About the role

This is a permanent Data Scientist / BI Analyst position based from home in the UK. The role focuses on turning organisational data into practical insight, creating business intelligence solutions, and supporting key enterprise platforms, including IFS.

Key responsibilities

You will contribute across analytics, reporting, platform administration, and business systems support.

• Create robust data models in Power BI Desktop and Power Query.
• Design interactive reports and dashboards using sound modelling practices such as semantic modelling and star schema structures.
• Carry out statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modelling work.
• Maintain and improve Power BI datasets, dataflows, and scheduled refresh processes.
• Oversee secure access, workspace permissions, and sharing controls within Power BI.
• Work with data sources such as views, tables, and custom fields to shape reporting outputs.
• Use debugging, view extraction, and modelling methods to build operational data solutions.
• Provide second-line functional support for IFS when needed.
• Support wider enterprise applications through general system assistance.
• Help with configuration tasks, documentation, user training, and adoption sessions.
• Partner with finance, supply chain, operations, and commercial teams to convert business needs into technical solutions.
• Contribute to change management and continuous improvement activity.

The successful candidate will need strong analytical ability, attention to detail, creativity, adaptability, and effective communication skills. You should be comfortable working with complex requirements, collaborating across teams, and aligning data solutions with long-term business goals.

Skills and experience

• Degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a similar discipline.
• Experience using Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, semantic modelling, and dataflows.
• Working knowledge of data warehousing, star schema design, and relational databases.
• Experience with IFS, including views, tables, and debugging tools.
• SQL knowledge and an understanding of ETL processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Power BI certification is desirable.
