Job Overview

STAFFXPERT LLC is recruiting a Data Governance / Data Manager for a client located in the United States, offering a fully remote contract position. The selected professional will spearhead enterprise-level data governance initiatives, focusing on the formulation and enforcement of data standards, enhancement of data quality, and oversight of metadata and data lineage. This role necessitates interaction with both technical teams and business stakeholders to foster data maturity and compliance with governance protocols, thereby enabling data-informed decision-making organization-wide.

Core Duties

• Create and enforce policies, standards, and best practices dictating enterprise data governance.
• Identify and record reliable data sources within various applications, databases, and reporting platforms.
• Develop and upkeep data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and document data lineage effectively.
• Standardize naming conventions, business definitions, and administer data management workflows.
• Address and rectify data quality challenges including duplicates and inconsistent data points.
• Maintain consistency and accuracy across multiple reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, and SharePoint reports.
• Collaborate with IT teams on Azure-based data architecture, pipelines, and data warehouse projects.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and governance-related artifacts, including assessments.
• Advise on data quality, governance, compliance, and reporting implications linked to system modifications.
• Support governance activities related to data classification, handling, and privacy.
• Work closely with stakeholders to promote stewardship and enhance overall data management operations.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a comparable field.
• Brings at least five years of practical experience within Data Governance, Data Management, or similar roles.
• Has comprehensive knowledge of data governance frameworks, methods, and accepted practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Azure Data Services, SQL Server, Power BI, and SharePoint.
• Experienced in creating and managing data dictionaries, metadata management, and documenting data lineage.
• Proven track record in establishing enterprise data standards and elevating data quality metrics.
• Exhibits strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational competencies.
• Excellent communicator adept at managing relationships across technical and business domains.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Holds certifications such as DAMA CDMP or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Knowledgeable in Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, or equivalent advanced data platforms.
• Familiarity with frameworks for data maturity and enterprise data management modeling.
• Experience supporting extensive enterprise environments or working within regulated sectors.
• Understanding of governance, compliance, privacy, and risk management concerning enterprise data.
