About the Data Science Team
At Stripe, the Data Science community consists of data analysts, scientists, and engineers collaborating to leverage Stripe's essential and exciting data. This role will align you to the most relevant analytics team based on your expertise.
Role Overview
In this role, you will collaborate extensively across teams to ensure that Stripe’s business, products, and user base benefit from robust models, data products, and insights necessary for informed decisions and responsible growth. You will extract actionable insights from Stripe's complex data, convert business questions into data problems, build scalable data infrastructures, and communicate data-driven stories to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Treasury Finance, Finance & Strategy, Risk, and Engineering teams to develop analytics and observability frameworks supporting Stripe’s financial position.
- Analyze macroeconomic indicators and construct analytical models that guide financial planning and strategic decision-making.
- Create targeted observability and performance metrics for both standard and event-driven platforms, informing senior leadership on the business’s position amidst changing macro and market dynamics.
- Utilize Stripe’s data assets to assess financial performance and build scalable data foundations for emerging analytical needs.
- Work with diverse and unstructured datasets to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop data pipelines, models, and infrastructure aligned with business objectives.
- Support continuous reporting efforts, stakeholder communications, and information requests within Treasury Finance and Finance & Strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Current residency in New York or willingness to relocate to support a hybrid working model.
- 3 to 6 years of experience spanning Data Research & Analysis, Risk Modeling, Business Intelligence, or Data Engineering, including building data pipelines and analyzing large datasets.
- Proficiency with SQL and Python programming languages.
- Strong foundation in statistics coupled with sound business judgment.
- Ability to clearly communicate analysis results and influence business impact.
- Experience with analytics within FinTech, banking, investment management, corporate finance, treasury, or financial services domains.
- Expertise in data visualization and using insights to drive recommendations and goals.
- Proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously with great attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally, defining analytics challenges and delivering technically rigorous, data-driven solutions.
- Familiarity with AI tools that expedite model development, analysis, and coding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering.
- Previous work experience at growth-stage internet or FinTech companies.
- Background in macro analytics, corporate finance, financial planning, or portfolio management.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting datasets, time-series analysis, macroeconomic indicators, or economic modeling.
- Experience with distributed big data platforms such as Hadoop and Spark for constructing and troubleshooting data pipelines.
- Understanding of software development best practices including code reviews, testing, and engineering standards.
Work Arrangement
The position requires spending at least 50% of working hours monthly onsite at the New York office, balancing in-person collaboration with flexibility based on team needs.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual base salary range for this role is between $134,000 and $201,000, varying by career level and candidate qualifications. Additional benefits might include equity, bonuses or commissions, 401(k) plans, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision packages, and wellness allowances.
