Job Overview

The Custodian role involves maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of designated areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. This position requires performing various janitorial duties according to daily schedules and handling hazardous waste management tasks responsibly.

Primary Responsibilities

• Complete janitorial responsibilities adhering to the daily task list.
• Manage the collection, classification, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste materials.
• Operate motorized cleaning machinery proficiently.
• Uphold the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas consistently.
• Report any incidents or hazardous situations promptly to supervisors.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, policies, and procedural guidelines.
• Intervene to halt unsafe behaviors by oneself or others.
• Collaborate effectively within a team setting to complete work assignments.
• Perform repetitive cleaning and maintenance duties with attention to detail.
• Maintain personal and communal workplace cleanliness.
• Comply with company procedures, rules, and directions from supervisors.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and clients.
• Provide coverage during staffing shortages and assist shift leads with punch-list tasks.
• Utilize proper personal protective equipment at all times.
• Present a professional appearance and behavior consistently.
• Understand and implement customer service principles and satisfaction focus.
• Familiarize with and follow reporting systems related to environmental matters.

Qualifications

• Preferred 3 to 6 months of relevant training or job experience; or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license may be required.
• Completion of all mandated safety and task-related training certifications.
• Forklift certification may be necessary.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, manuals, and related documentation.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, compounds, chemicals, and cleaning equipment maintenance, with willingness to share expertise.
• Bilingual capability is considered advantageous.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently sit, communicate, and listen.
• Physical capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.

Compensation and Work Schedule

The scheduled work hours are Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM, with hourly pay ranging between $13.75 and $14.75.
