Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Copy Editors fluent in English with strong expertise in grammar and the Chicago Manual of Style to contribute as global contractors. This role entails editing K–12 instructional content with precision, ensuring all materials meet stringent style, grammar, and clarity standards under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit textual content to guarantee grammatical accuracy according to Chicago Manual of Style conventions.
- Apply MGT’s internal style and branding guidelines, along with client requirements if applicable.
- Review instructional resources such as lessons, assessments, guides, alt-text, and student-facing documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and structure.
- Address corrections related to grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, clarity, and tone.
- Maintain internal consistency over large volumes of content including headings, formatting, terminology, and instructions.
- Identify and flag content inconsistencies or other issues for collaboration with writers, designers, and curriculum developers.
- Work effectively within fast-paced production schedules while maintaining exceptional detail orientation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Outstanding command of English grammar, style, and usage with mastery of Chicago Manual of Style standards.
- Ability to perform rapid and accurate copy editing in high-pressure workflows.
- Excellent attention to detail and dedication to producing error-free edits.
- Successful completion of a standard copy editing assessment.
Preferred Expertise
- Prior experience editing educational materials, specifically curriculum or instructional content.
- Familiarity with K–12 educational contexts and terminology, with K–5 experience considered advantageous.
- Comfort working with style guides, editorial checklists, and managing version-controlled documents.
- Proficiency using digital editing tools like Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and PDF markup applications.
