Job description
Overview
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for overseeing all contractual and commercial elements of road and infrastructure projects. The role demands managing contracts, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards, handling claims and changes, and supporting project teams in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage contracts effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review, negotiate, and finalize contract terms with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure mutual agreement.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual duties and obligations.
- Monitor financial aspects including project budgets, costs, and overall financial performance.
- Prepare and evaluate claims, variations, and change orders to maintain project integrity.
- Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential issues.
- Offer commercial guidance and support to project teams for informed decision-making.
- Keep precise records of contracts, payment schedules, and correspondence to maintain transparency.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to amicably resolve disputes.
- Compile reports on commercial metrics and contractual matters for senior leadership review.
- Manage invoicing, ensure timely payment collection, and handle financial reporting duties.
Candidate Profile
- Holder of a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, construction management, law, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience in contract administration and commercial roles, specifically in road and infrastructure projects.
- In-depth familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, or other recognized construction contract frameworks.
- Expertise in contract administration, claims processing, and dispute resolution methods.
- Outstanding negotiation and communication capabilities.
- Strong financial insight and proven skills in cost management and control.
- Ability to accurately interpret legal and contractual documents.
- Proven leadership and team management competencies.
- Detail-oriented approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and project management software tools.
