Position Responsibilities
This role operates under guidance from the principal investigator or supervisor and cooperates closely with other research personnel. The coordinator will liaise with multiple institutional departments, external researchers, sponsors, and research participants to facilitate smooth and timely study progress.
- Independently manage complex clinical research protocols, especially those involving interventions and therapies exceeding minimal risk, ensuring adherence to regulatory and institutional mandates.
- Collaborate with the research team to evaluate protocol feasibility and coordinate study management post-IRB approval.
- Recruit, screen, and enroll research subjects, monitor participation, and supervise scheduled research activities.
- Identify and document adverse events, protocol deviations, and unforeseen issues, reporting them promptly as required.
- Maintain accurate data monitoring and reporting to uphold study quality and compliance.
- Provide training and education for department members related to research protocols and operations.
- Execute administrative and regulatory tasks relevant to ongoing studies, including documentation and regulatory submissions.
- Travel may occasionally be necessary to support multi-site coordination or other research needs.
- Manage protocol development and maintenance, including document editing, amendment coordination, logistics support (blood kits, data booklets, CRU utilization), and maintaining alignment with federal and institutional regulations.
- Conduct communications with study sites and federal agencies regarding study updates and submissions, prepare IRB documentation, and provide expert advice on regulatory aspects.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma plus five years of clinical research coordination or related experience, OR
- Associate degree, college diploma, or certificate with at least three years of related experience, OR
- Associate degree in Clinical Research without experience, OR
- Bachelor's degree with at least one year experience or completion of Mayo Clinic clinical research internship substituting that year.
Experience in clinical settings or related areas is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation or diploma from a training program for study coordinators is advantageous.
- At least one year of clinical research experience is preferred.
- Completion of a medical terminology course is desirable.
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Full-time position exceeding 80 hours per pay period.
- Standard business hours with no expected weekend work.
- Hourly wage ranging from $28 to $42, with consideration for education, experience, and internal parity.

The position is nonexempt with eligibility for benefits. The work location is onsite at Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville, Florida campus.
