About Centrecare

Centrecare is a not-for-profit organization employing over 300 staff, dedicated to offering professional counselling, support, accommodation, mediation, and training services across more than 11 locations in Perth, Goldfields, and South West Western Australia.

Service Overview

The Family and Accommodation Service supports clients experiencing homelessness by providing medium-term housing (up to 12 months) and assisting those facing challenges in maintaining stable housing. The service particularly aids families and women with children fleeing domestic violence by linking them with mainstream services addressing employment, health, financial management, and social integration to secure long-term housing stability.

Role Summary

The Case Worker will assist clients to overcome homelessness issues and support them in acquiring and sustaining stable accommodation following their exit from Centrecare's Family Accommodation Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and counsel children and their families to enhance their personal, social, and health development.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and skill-building services including assessments, counselling, outreach, capacity development, information dissemination, and referrals.
  • Facilitate access to recreational activities for children and families where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain networks with community organizations and service providers to ensure optimal client outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Studies, Psychology, Social Science, or related fields.
  • Between 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in outreach, homelessness support, individual or family assistance, and case management.
  • Experience working in justice settings or supporting individuals post-incarceration.
  • Valid Western Australia driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • A National Police Certificate issued within the past 12 months.
