Buyer/Planner

Overview

This role is positioned at Celestica in Galway, Ireland, within the supply chain management area, specifically focused on purchasing. The Buyer/Planner works independently to fulfill job responsibilities following defined standards and guidelines. The incumbent plays a crucial role in ensuring materials are procured and managed efficiently to support manufacturing needs and maintain inventory balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and procure materials required for manufacturing production across one or multiple product lines.
• Review forecasts and purchase materials accordingly to meet production requirements.
• Maintain materials availability aligned with manufacturing schedules to avoid excessive inventory holding.
• Qualify new suppliers through assessments and site inspections, coordinating account setups with finance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to manage defective materials, returns, and credit processes.
• Work with accounts payable to resolve supplier invoice payments issues.
• Schedule material deliveries based on customer forecasts and production plans.
• Analyze factors such as capacity, cycle times, and material availability to optimize scheduling.
• Manage order adjustments in line with production needs and customer requirements.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of data used in material requirements planning.
• Assist with new product introductions from manufacturing through to shipping.
• Participate in weekly change meetings and update costs related to engineering changes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Two to four years of relevant experience in supply chain or purchasing.
• Understanding of electronic manufacturing environments, procurement, inventory and supplier management.
• Basic knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and MRP techniques.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and various business applications.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to strategically plan material delivery and balance multiple tasks effectively within tight deadlines.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• The role is office-based with prolonged periods of sitting and extensive computer use.
• Tasks often require sustained concentration on detailed numeric data and frequent repetitive manual activities like data entry.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range is €50,000 to €55,000, inclusive of base pay and target short-term incentives.
• Additional comprehensive benefits package provided.
• Compensation may vary based on candidate qualifications, responsibilities, and location.
