Position Summary

The Materials Buyer leads the planning, sourcing, and inventory oversight of raw materials essential for production needs and business goals. Responsibilities include maintaining precise material planning data, executing purchase orders, and building strong supplier relations to guarantee timely and cost-effective material procurement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate raw material demand and supply data at the SKU level within the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
• Develop weekly operating plans highlighting raw material deviations, risks, and necessary adjustments, and communicate category status transparently to internal teams.
• Make procurement decisions for assigned raw material categories by formulating purchasing plans, issuing supplier orders, and securing confirmations.
• Establish and monitor inventory targets, safety stock, and replenishment policies to balance material availability with working capital goals.
• Keep material master data and planning parameters accurate and up-to-date in MRP systems for the assigned categories.
• Track and analyze key performance metrics related to material availability, supplier performance, and forecast accuracy, providing relevant reports.
• Anticipate and communicate risks associated with material shortages or delays, proposing and enacting mitigation strategies.
• Continuously seek improvements in material planning and procurement processes to enhance efficiency.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline.
• Three to five years of experience in procurement, materials planning, or supply chain functions.
• Proficiency with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems; exposure to ERP platforms is advantageous.
• Preferred experience in apparel, textile, or similar manufacturing sectors.
• Intermediate to advanced capability with Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups, and basic data analytics.
• Deep understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management practices.
• Skilled at integrating data from various sources to drive decision-making and provide actionable insights.
• Detail-oriented and driven to promptly resolve supply-related challenges.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving acumen focused on process enhancements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Ability to question existing procedures constructively and promote positive change.
• Adaptable and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Compensation

Annual salary range for this role is between 54000 and 76000 CAD. Please note that this range is indicative and actual offers will be based on experience, skills, and role fit. Canada Goose strives for transparency, equity, and fairness in compensation.
