About Alpha Bank London

Alpha Bank London describes itself as a people-centred bank built around purpose, enthusiasm, and a humane culture. The organisation emphasises working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, creating lasting relationships, and combining international scale with local market knowledge. It highlights opportunities for both early-career and experienced professionals to take on meaningful responsibility, varied work, and exposure beyond what a smaller boutique bank or a large corporate institution might offer.

The bank also stresses that success should benefit clients, communities, and colleagues alike, and invites candidates who want to make a real contribution.

Role Overview

This position sits within the Change team and is intended for a proactive Business Analyst who is comfortable being directly involved in delivery. The role blends traditional business analysis with practical testing responsibilities to help ensure that changes are introduced into production safely and effectively. The work covers analysis from start to finish, process review, management of workstreams from early idea generation through go-live, and hands-on support during testing.

Attention to UK regulatory expectations is important, and experience in a UK retail banking setting is preferred.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Work with stakeholders to capture, refine, and rank business needs so delivery remains clear and realistic.
  • Run discovery workshops and detailed discussion sessions to uncover current processes, pain points, and target outcomes.
  • Prepare both functional and non-functional requirements, taking into account regulatory, security, and control needs.
  • Question assumptions, reduce uncertainty, and help teams make workable decisions.
  • Review existing processes and help shape future-state solutions, including contributions to target operating models.
  • Partner with subject matter experts, technology teams, and vendors to maintain clear traceability from requirements through to implementation.
  • Support testing and user acceptance testing by creating scenarios, helping manage defects, and contributing to sign-off decisions.
  • Spot opportunities to improve processes and working methods, then recommend practical enhancements.
  • Assist with readiness activities such as communications, training, post-launch support, and benefits tracking.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the business and build strong working relationships that help change land successfully.

What We Are Looking For

  • Background in delivering change within financial services, ideally banking, with a strong understanding of regulated operating environments.
  • Working knowledge of FCA and PRA expectations, with the ability to produce work that is ready for audit scrutiny.
  • Strong exposure to UK retail banking products, especially current accounts and deposits; familiarity with debit cards and home lending is a plus.
  • Solid business analysis capability, including workshop facilitation, structured questioning, and the production of clear documentation.
  • Ability to create standard BA outputs such as business requirement documents, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability artefacts, As-Is and To-Be maps, impact assessments, and training content.
  • Understanding of delivery across waterfall and/or agile environments from initiation through build, testing, release, and early-life support.
  • Comfort working with technology teams across multiple locations and time zones, and staying involved through build to resolve issues and clarify requirements.
  • Willingness to be hands-on in testing, including test approach definition, writing and running SIT/UAT scripts, defect management, and supporting business approval.
  • Familiarity with disciplined testing in regulated environments, including test plans, evidence collection, traceability, and quality checkpoints.
  • Experience using delivery and analysis tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Visio/Lucidchart, Figma, Excel, and basic SQL where useful.
  • Strong analytical, practical, and organisational skills, with the ability to balance several priorities while maintaining quality.
  • Confident facilitator and communicator who can influence outcomes, lead productive workshops, and take ownership through to completion.

Qualifications

  • A degree in IT, Finance, Business, or a related subject is preferred, although equivalent practical experience is also acceptable.
  • Professional business analysis certifications are an advantage.
  • Prior experience in UK financial services is strongly preferred.

Why This Role May Appeal

  • Chance to contribute ideas that improve efficiency and processes.
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment focused on shared success.
  • Opportunity to produce work of high quality that has visible impact.
  • Exposure to live delivery and operational outcomes in real time.
  • Ownership of tasks and room to build skills for the next career step.
