About the role

This opportunity is for a Biomedical Scientist within the Cellular Pathology department at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, CM20 1QX. It is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. The role offers a salary of up to £48,778 per year, depending on experience, inclusive of the regional pay allowance.

The position sits within an environment that is actively modernising its pathology and phlebotomy services. The service is supported by new equipment and improved ways of working as part of the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board’s wider modernisation plan. The team is seeking Biomedical Scientists with experience in Cellular Pathology.

• Supporting the Cellular Pathology workflow from slide preparation through to reporting.
• Contributing to timely and accurate diagnostic output for patient care.
• Working within a service that is being upgraded with new technology and improved processes.
• Collaborating with colleagues to maintain a supportive and effective laboratory environment.
• Following agreed working patterns aligned with departmental needs and work-life balance.

Working pattern and employment details

The post is permanent and full-time, with a Monday to Friday schedule. Standard hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, giving a total of 37.5 hours each week. Working arrangements will be confirmed with the Head of Department to ensure they fit both service requirements and staff wellbeing.
