Your Role

We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager based in Toronto who embraces a passion for building more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive communities. In this position, you will support experienced project managers and gain practical experience across a broad variety of projects, including commercial buildings, social organizations, educational institutions, water and wastewater facilities, and Indigenous community projects. You will develop your project management capabilities by actively participating in these diverse initiatives while maintaining a positive attitude and contributing innovative ideas. Establishing strong rapport with team members and stakeholders will be essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an essential liaison facilitating communication between the Project Manager, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Support Project Managers through managing schedule updates, maintaining project control systems, producing progress reports, and assisting in preparing tender and contract documents.
• Ensure that all project activities adhere strictly to Colliers Project Leaders’ Quality Management System.
• Attend project meetings, accurately recording action points and key decisions for dissemination to the team.
• Provide backup assistance to other Assistant Project Managers or Project Managers when available.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or possessing an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
• Between one and three years of experience in project management consulting, including support in project delivery within construction, engineering, or architecture sectors. Experience may include internships, co-op terms, or summer work.
• Exposure to consultant and design management, construction contract administration, or project financial management is a strong advantage.
• Sound understanding of current construction industry practices.
• Professional certifications such as CAPM, LEED, or similar credentials are highly regarded.
• Excellent skills in communication, presentation, and interpersonal relations.
• Self-driven with a strong initiative and enthusiasm for learning and contributing.
• Proficient in MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel.
