Job description

Overview

The Asset Protection Associate plays a vital role in ensuring a secure, safe, and professional environment for customers, staff, visitors, and vendors. By adhering to Asset Protection protocols and maintaining a positive, professional demeanor, this position aids in preventing financial and physical losses, minimizes shrinkage, and supports the profitability of the store. Through vigilance, observation, and teamwork, the associate helps safeguard individuals, merchandise, and the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily store patrols to maintain a safe and secure shopping environment.
  • Verify proper functioning of doors, showcases, and security devices, taking corrective actions when needed.
  • Investigate incidents related to financial and physical shrinkage, reporting findings to Store Leadership and escalating internal cases to the Market Loss Prevention Manager per company policies.
  • Assist in investigations related to internal/external theft, organized retail crime, and cases assigned by Walmart Canada Global Ethics.
  • Support store evacuation and emergency response activities during incidents like fires or other emergencies.
  • Participate in store task forces and other duties to support store operations.
  • Execute external apprehensions according to company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Collect and communicate investigative information clearly to leadership and involved parties.
  • Be flexible to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.

Challenges

  • Manage high workloads effectively in a fast-paced, overnight environment while maintaining focus and energy.
  • Complete large volumes of restocking and recovery duties accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory or supplies up to 20 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Carry out repetitive tasks like stocking and organizing products meticulously to maintain store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $17.75.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Possession of a valid Security Guard License.
