Position Overview
As an Architectural Designer at AJC in Sydney, you will contribute to the creation and execution of innovative and practical designs spanning architectural, interior, and urban projects. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will assist in developing designs, preparing detailed documentation, and helping coordinate projects to ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and client expectations.
Role Responsibilities
The role involves applying a solid understanding of design principles, advancing your skills in digital design and documentation software, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and stakeholders. You will gain increasing independence, communicate professionally, and provide support to graduates and junior colleagues, fostering a cooperative studio environment.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- At least two years of postgraduate professional experience in architectural, interior, urban, or multidisciplinary design roles.
- Completion of an accredited bachelor's or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, urban design, or a closely related field.
- Experience with various project stages including conceptual design, design development, and detailed documentation matching the scale and discipline of projects.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Professional use of Revit or equivalent documentation platforms relevant to your design discipline.
- Competence with Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite or similar 3D modeling and graphic design tools used in your domain.
Key Skills and Abilities
- Strong conceptual and graphic design skills applicable to architectural, interior, or urban contexts.
- Experience contributing to design progression, technical detailing, and documentation, including exposure to construction or project delivery phases.
- Capability to solve design and technical challenges innovatively and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of materials, products, systems, and construction methods relevant to project requirements and scale.
- Understanding of project coordination including collaboration with consultants and stakeholders, supported by senior team members.
- Assisting with consultant and stakeholder engagement across project phases.
- Initiative in developing and refining design options in team settings, responsive to project leadership input.
- Skills in developing, revising, and coordinating drawings, models, and visuals to meet project needs.
- Strong organizational aptitude coupled with effective time management to handle deadlines and prioritize workload under pressure.
- Adaptability and openness to adopting new technologies, workflows, and iterative design processes.
