AIC Officer

Overview

We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Australian Industry Capability (AIC) Officer to aid in achieving AIC targets at Austal Defence Australia. This vital role includes collaborating closely with the AIC Manager and Supply Chain teams to oversee, evaluate, and report contractual expenditures ensuring adherence to the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA).

The AIC Officer will contribute significantly to Australian industry growth by tracking supplier performance, analyzing critical data, and supporting efforts to boost local supplier engagement and enhance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage AIC reporting mechanisms, including the Australian Contract Expenditure (ACE) tracking system.
• Conduct analysis of contract spending while verifying supplier AIC claims for compliance and accuracy.
• Monitor the conversion from Industry Capability Network (ICN) gateway entries (ICE) to ACE and overall Australian industry participation metrics.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to increase domestic industry involvement and capabilities.
• Manage work packages and supplier engagement via the ICN Gateway platform.
• Support development of procurement business cases as well as various reporting requirements.
• Provide suppliers with guidance regarding AIC obligations and compliance standards.
• Contribute to preparing reports, supporting audit processes, and facilitating stakeholder communications.
• Help organize and support AIC-related meetings, events, and documentation efforts.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Exceptional analytical abilities with a strong eye for detail.
• Proven experience working with data analysis, reporting, or financial assessment.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably IFS.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize competing tasks effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Background in procurement, supply chain management, or industry engagement initiatives.
• Understanding of Australian Industry Capability or sovereign capability programs.
• Experience within defence, manufacturing, or engineering sectors.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement skills.
