About the Role
Pact Packaging is leading the way in sustainable packaging by taking a comprehensive product life cycle approach. We work closely with a range of clients from global brands to local dairy producers, integrating efficiency and sustainability into every design and manufactured product.
The Account Manager position is a senior-level role within our sales division, responsible for both direct and indirect management of a designated customer portfolio that spans industries from FMCG to Industrial. The clients served range substantially in annual gross turnover, from $5,000 up to over $6 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve gross sales and contribution targets through strategic planning and diligent execution.
- Develop and sustain a Key Account Strategy, ensuring tailored relationship plans for the top 10 clients.
- Conduct accurate revenue and margin forecasting, maintaining variance within 5% weekly.
- Perform quarterly business reviews of top accounts; prepare detailed reports covering revenue, margins, projects, inventory levels, travel costs, and receivables.
- Drive contract negotiations, manage statements of work, and ensure contracts comply with terms and conditions.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of pricing indices, manage pricing strategies, and resolve pricing irregularities.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, oversee feedback mechanisms, and ensure exceptional satisfaction levels.
- Identify and capitalize on new customer segments and market opportunities while maximizing volume from existing accounts and fostering product development.
- Lead tender preparation and submission, assuring competitive and effective bids for requests for proposals (RFPs).
- Contribute actively to company-wide strategic sales planning, budgeting, account development, and promoting a positive team culture.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a sales role.
- Strong financial acumen, particularly related to pricing, variable costs, and gross margin analysis.
- Experience managing sizable corporate accounts in relevant sectors.
- Industry knowledge in packaging, FMCG, manufacturing, or technical fields, with BOMs and cost drivers considered advantageous.
- Proven ability to develop new business and convert prospects successfully.
- Expertise in contract negotiation and pricing strategy management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building.
- Sound commercial judgment and decisive decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency with Excel and data analytics.
- Experienced in capital return calculations and incorporating those into pricing structures.
- Numerically proficient, capable of managing price indices and analyzing new business opportunities.
