Role Overview
The Vice President, Corporate Controller is a senior leadership position accountable for overseeing the integrity of Agility Robotics' financial reporting, accounting operations, internal control frameworks, regulatory compliance, and financial systems infrastructure. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a critical part in building a premier accounting organization and preparing the company to meet public company operational standards.
The role involves close collaboration with executive leadership and various departments—including Finance, Legal, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Information Technology—to design and implement financial processes, systems, and controls that support rapid expansion domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes ensuring timely and precise reporting.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements aligned with U.S. GAAP standards.
- Develop comprehensive accounting policies, technical accounting documents, and position statements.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of all financial reports.
- Analyze financial outcomes and detect significant trends and shifts, communicating key findings to financial planning and analysis teams and senior leadership.
- Create management reporting materials and deliver quarterly financial presentations to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure revenue recognition is aligned with contractual agreements and international commercial terms.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams on warranty reserves, capitalization, and accruals.
- Oversee valuation and accounting for warrants, stock-based compensation, and other financial instruments related to compensation and liabilities.
- Lead public company readiness, including audited financial statement preparation, SEC reporting, governance processes, and compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Design and manage a scalable Sarbanes-Oxley internal control framework.
- Supervise comprehensive accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, cost and revenue accounting, equity administration, and cash management.
- Lead audit, tax compliance, financial reporting, and external liaison functions.
- Drive systems and process improvements including ERP implementation, close process automation, and continuous operational enhancements.
- Recruit, mentor, and build a high-performing accounting team fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Qualifications and Leadership Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership positions in high-growth technology or manufacturing firms.
- Experience with a Big Four or nationally recognized public accounting firm preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and technical accounting.
- Proven ability managing audits, complex accounting issues, and ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with experience engaging executive leadership, boards, regulators, and external partners.
- Demonstrable success in preparing companies for IPOs or public market operations.
- Experienced in manufacturing-related accounting including inventory and cost management, and global/multi-entity operation support.
- Strong leadership qualities including strategic vision, operational excellence, and a commitment to ethical governance and corporate compliance.
Work Environment and Benefits
This role is a hybrid position located at the Fremont, California office.
Compensation for this role ranges from $285,000 to $370,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
