Job description
Overview
A prominent public sector property services organization is hiring an experienced Registered Valuer for its Professional Services Team under a fixed-term contract valid until October 2027. This position is suited for a Chartered Surveyor experienced in valuations, playing a key role in managing, valuing, developing, and disposing of a broad portfolio of operational and non-operational properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct valuations of operational and non-operational property assets, following RICS Valuation – Professional Standards (Red Book), IFRS, and CIPFA regulations.
- Generate compliant and thorough valuation reports alongside professional property advice.
- Assist in asset management strategies, property development prospects, and disposal initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to optimize property asset values and help meet capital receipt goals.
- Prepare clear, evidence-supported reports and recommendations for senior-level stakeholders.
- Analyze and interpret intricate property data such as development appraisals, costing analyses, site evaluations, and legal documents.
- Lead negotiations with developers, buyers, and other parties to achieve beneficial commercial results.
- Collaborate with legal teams and specialists to ensure successful property transactions.
- Keep precise property records and aid in efficient asset management.
- Handle multiple priorities effectively, delivering results within set deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, General Practice Surveying, or a related surveying discipline.
- Membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Registered Valuer status under RICS or eligibility to attain it without additional assessments.
- Strong background in property valuation and report formulation.
- In-depth familiarity with RICS Valuation – Professional Standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, along with negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Ability to operate autonomously, prioritize diverse tasks, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
- Experience engaging multiple stakeholders and delivering property solutions.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Valuation expertise in complex operational and investment property assets.
- Experience within public sector or local government property contexts.
- Knowledge of IFRS and CIPFA property accounting standards.
- Exposure to property disposals, acquisitions, and development projects.
- Familiarity with development appraisals and regeneration initiatives.
- Understanding of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation procedures.
- Experience with asset management software and property-related IT systems.

Compensation
Annual salary ranges between £45,645 and £53,080, complemented by a 17.5% pension contribution.
