Overview

We are currently offering an opportunity for a keen and dedicated radiographer or midwife passionate about maternity ultrasound to join our welcoming team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves training to become a qualified obstetric sonographer based at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Training and Qualifications

The successful candidate will be enrolled at the University of West England to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound. This is a structured training position focused primarily on obstetric ultrasound. Upon finishing the training program, candidates are expected to apply for a permanent Obstetric Sonographer post when vacancies arise.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform obstetric and gynecological ultrasound examinations under direct supervision in accordance with OUHFT policies and guidelines.
  • Communicate examination findings effectively to patients.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development and comply with statutory requirements.
  • Engage in evidence-based clinical practice improvements.
  • Participate actively in the chromosomal screening program.
  • Ensure accurate recording and storage of examination results following FASP and Trust standards.

Educational Duties

  • Attend all designated university study days.
  • Complete all academic assignments mandated by the university.
  • Work collaboratively with mentors to enhance practical scanning skills.
  • Manage the independent study necessary to successfully complete the course.
