Overview
Join the Discretionary Macro and Fixed Income (DMFI) team at Schonfeld as a Trading Assistant. This position is ideal for someone with enthusiasm for trading and a strong interest in financial markets. The role involves close collaboration with Portfolio Managers and coordination with the Operations department on trade booking, data analysis, and reporting. Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential to build relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Portfolio Managers with trade bookings and management of the overall trade blotter.
- Ensure the accuracy of trade recaps and the trade lifecycle process across systems.
- Oversee position management and handle profit and loss inquiries within Portfolio Management Systems and trader tools.
- Manage FX and futures rolls, expiries, cash balances, and significant trade/position events.
- Contribute to automation and tooling initiatives to minimize risk and close gaps.
- Communicate with stakeholders and Portfolio Managers regarding risk and attribution reports.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and fiduciary standards in all trade activities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Product, and P&L Valuations teams to align vendor and internal systems with Portfolio Managers’ booking accuracy and P&L modeling.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience providing support to Portfolio Managers or Traders.
- Understanding of operational risk and trade lifecycle impacts on profit and loss.
- Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving capabilities, along with effective communication and presentation skills.
- Solid familiarity with financial markets and Fixed Income and FX products, such as futures, forwards, swaps, and options.
- Self-motivated and intellectually curious, with a drive to develop optimal solutions.
- Ability to multitask and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-moving environment, with a strong interest in market structures and financial products.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including VBA and macros.
- Competence in Python programming.

Compensation
The expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $150,000. Additional compensation may be available through performance bonuses and competitive benefits. Final pay will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
