Technology Services Intern

About the Opportunity

Auckland Council offers a 12-week paid summer internship in Technology Services, remunerated at the Living Wage rate of $29.90 per hour. This program runs from 23 November to 19 February and provides hands-on experience working on impactful projects that support the future development of Tāmaki Makaurau and improve outcomes for Auckland residents.

Internship Experience

As an intern, you will engage in diverse on-the-job learning and undertake challenging assignments aligned with business needs and your growth objectives. Your primary role will involve contributing to tasks and projects within a designated Technology Services team, alongside gaining exposure to Service Management functions through the Service Desk.

During the internship, you will provide technical assistance, troubleshoot issues, participate in hardware and software maintenance, monitor systems, and assist with documentation. This is a unique chance to develop technical and professional skills under guidance from experienced experts while gaining substantial workplace experience.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about learning, eager to contribute within various ICT teams, and motivated to obtain practical experience in Technology, IT Support, or Systems.

• Currently in the penultimate year of a relevant bachelor's degree or enrolled in a master’s program.
• Eligible to work full-time in New Zealand for the full internship duration (23 Nov 2026 to 19 Feb 2027).
• Studying fields such as Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Computer Sciences.
• Possess strong information literacy, problem-solving, and data analysis skills.
• Capable of contributing innovative ideas, listening actively, seeking clarity, and meeting project deadlines.
