Job description
Role Overview
This position focuses on managing cost estimation, benchmarking, and pre-construction financial activities associated with new data center deployments. The individual serves as the liaison between project teams and the APAC Estimating groups, ensuring adequate budget and support for external project consultant estimators. Collaboration with teams across Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and partners is essential to meet project-specific cost data requirements. Reporting is to the EMEA/APAC Region Estimating Manager with alignment to the global Strategic Estimating team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the ownership of cost plans, estimates, benchmarking, and communication with relevant stakeholders, managing meetings and deliverables between project teams and estimators.
- Maintain and update comprehensive construction cost estimates for ongoing and upcoming data center projects in the region, alongside performing data analytics on these estimates.
- Develop and nurture trusted relationships with program stakeholders, including managing executive expectations and providing actionable insights for decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of experience in construction cost management and program management.
- Expertise in infrastructure design creation, encompassing telecom, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as drawing sets for data center networking spaces' builds and remodels.
- Strong background in pre-construction quantity surveying and cost estimating.
- Experience with design processes, procurement, and planning of work packages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered or affiliated status with RICS, SCSI, AIQS, or other equivalent bodies.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships with sound knowledge of typical design and construction industry practices.
- Experience from the commercial perspective of hyperscale data center construction, having worked with General Contractors, MEP contractors, consultants, or client/developer roles.
