Position Summary
St. Vincent's University Hospital is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent Switchboard Operator position within the ICT Department, based at their Dublin location. This role operates at Grade IV level, providing essential telephony and communication support for the hospital.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the hospital’s switchboard efficiently and courteously, ensuring smooth communication flow.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times while handling calls and information.
- Promptly recognize and respond to emergency calls following established protocols.
- Operate the Hospital Paging System as required to facilitate urgent communications.
- Coordinate taxi and courier services when requested to support hospital operations.
- Assist in keeping the Telephone Directory current and accurate.
- Be well-versed with hospital emergency plans, including Fire, Cardiac Arrest, and Major/Internal Emergencies.
- Participate actively in the Hospital Accreditation System and comply with related standards.
- Stay informed and follow all Telecommunications Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines applicable to the hospital.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings to support continuous improvement and communication.
- Understand and adhere to hospital-wide policies and attend any necessary training or refresher sessions.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the hospital in addressing health and safety concerns to protect patients, relatives, and colleagues.
- Work conscientiously to avoid compromising health and safety standards within the hospital environment.
- Familiarize oneself with the Hospital Safety Statement and comply accordingly.
- Understand and implement the Lone Working Procedure, including the use of a man-down device when required.
