Staffing Specialist

Position Overview

The Staffing Specialist is responsible for providing expert staffing and scheduling assistance to assigned inpatient and clinical units. This role ensures adequate staffing coverage by considering patient census, acuity, skill mix, and established staffing guidelines. It requires delivering exceptional service through proactive communication with nursing leadership and staff to promptly address staffing shortages and modify schedules as necessary, while complying with union agreements and hospital staffing rules.

Key Duties

• Monitor and adjust staffing coverage in real time based on unit needs.
• Collaborate closely with nursing leaders and personnel to resolve staffing challenges.
• Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements and hospital policies.
• Track and document employee attendance and coding accurately in the timekeeping system.
• Make electronic corrections to timecards to ensure proper pay and job costing.
• Apply knowledge of labor contracts and HR policies regarding timekeeping, attendance, paid leave, overtime, and leaves of absence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years’ experience delivering customer service in a fast-paced, challenging setting.
• Proficiency or working knowledge of Microsoft Office and scheduling software is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.

Work Schedule

This full-time position operates on-call across day and swing shifts, specifically from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
