Solution Architect - Azure Cloud Oracle & SQL Server Database Administration

About the Role

We are inviting a skilled Solution Architect with deep expertise in Azure Cloud, Oracle, and SQL Server database management to join the Ministry of Justice in Wellington. This permanent full-time position is vital for steering the development and support of both on-premise and cloud-based database infrastructures, focusing primarily on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle technologies, alongside Oracle Data Integrator for data engineering tasks.

In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and enthusiastic team committed to innovating digital services that profoundly impact New Zealand's judicial landscape. Your efforts will span the entire lifecycle of database and infrastructure management, ensuring scalable, reliable, and efficient data platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, construct, and sustain databases and related infrastructure necessary for effective data processing.
• Provide operational support and administration for legacy on-premise systems as well as cloud-oriented database environments.
• Manage the full system delivery lifecycle including database design, implementation, testing, and documentation aligned with the Ministry's standards for development, security, and enterprise architecture.
• Specify system designs that satisfy defined business needs while maintaining adherence to cost, security, and maintainability constraints.
• Communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders about complex technical challenges and solutions.
• Coach and mentor team members, promoting self-motivation and broad-direction work approaches.

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Proven engineering expertise and substantial experience in database administration technologies.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Microsoft SQL Server, including SSRS, SSIS, Oracle RDBMS 19x and 23x.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Data Warehouse support, Oracle GoldenGate 19x, and Oracle Data Integrator 12x reflecting best practices in data engineering.
• Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end system delivery and lifecycle management.
• Awareness and respect for Tikanga Māori principles and cultural contexts relevant to the workplace.
• Understanding of Agile and software development methodologies is seen as beneficial.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from NZD 118,904 to NZD 163,344 annually, depending on skills and experience.
