Role Overview

We are looking for Software Engineers proficient in JavaScript, React, Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, and Test-Driven Development (TDD). Engineers will be part of cross-functional squads focused on data-driven goals and split between two main product areas:

• D2C (Learner Tribe): Work within a squad consisting of 4 engineers, an engineering manager, QA engineer, designer, and product manager to deliver the product roadmap and drive ambitious direct-to-consumer growth using A/B testing and feature monetization strategies. Tech stack includes NextJS, React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS. Experience with Stripe payment systems and Optimizely A/B testing tools is advantageous.
• B2B (Partner Tribe): Join a team of 3 engineers with supporting roles to manage partner integrations, including universities and bookstores, expanding the global network. This team uses React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS. Familiarity with authentication protocols and event-driven asynchronous systems like message queues and scheduled jobs is a plus.

Key Requirements

• Practical commercial experience as a software engineer.
• Proven expertise in building high-performance web applications using JavaScript, React/NextJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, including microservices, REST APIs, object-oriented and functional programming, plus relational and NoSQL database design.
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks, tools, and development processes.
• Experience working in Agile environments with Test Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
• Experience contributing to product discovery phases and ideation sessions.
• Adept at communicating complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in computer science or related field.
• Prior experience working in startup environments.
• Understanding of Learning Management Systems.
• A passion for books, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary between £60,000 and £65,000 per annum.
