Overview
Join Vista's Data Engineering team as a junior to intermediate Software Engineer to develop the technical foundation for advancing Vista's AI initiatives. Collaborate closely with team members to create and execute reliable data pipelines, platform features, and integrations that streamline data connectivity across Vista's systems and empower AI-driven workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain dependable data ingestion pipelines interfacing with APIs, event streams, databases, files, and external platforms.
- Develop services, integrations, and reusable tools primarily using Python and TypeScript, adhering to Vista's engineering patterns.
- Apply AI-first engineering methodologies to oversee design, development, testing, documentation, and operation of production environments.
- Create secure, observable data interfaces facilitating use by AI copilots, automated agents, decision-support workflows, and similar processes.
- Contribute to building comprehensive views of Vista’s customer interactions and business metrics.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, auditing, fault tolerance, and data quality assurance within services and pipelines.
- Enforce strong principles of security, privacy, access control, data ownership, and responsible AI practices throughout development cycles.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently with autonomy and accountability to ensure timely delivery.
- Continuously improve Vista’s data engineering architecture, practices, and reusable platform components.
Candidate Requirements
- Solid foundation in software engineering with experience delivering production-grade systems.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, API design, integration, data pipelines, or distributed services.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to design, generate, test, review, and support software lifecycle.
- Effective communication skills to articulate technical issues clearly in both written and verbal forms.
- Familiarity with relational databases, data modeling, metadata management, and cloud environments.
- Knowledge of observability, automated testing, continuous integration/deployment, and DevOps workflows.
- Judicious understanding of security, privacy policies, governance, and access control mechanisms.
- Self-motivated and confident working independently in dynamic and ambiguous settings.
- Capability to juggle multiple simultaneous tasks or projects without heavy supervision.
- Engineering mindset focused on practical delivery, code reuse, and quantifiable results.
- Bonus: Experience with AI orchestration, automation agents, event-driven architecture, analytics platforms, infrastructure automation, or handling large-scale data processing is advantageous.
