SMP1 Shift Electrical Technician

Overview

This role entails performing electrical maintenance activities at a steel melting plant during the day shift to guarantee that both corrective and preventive maintenance are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The objective is to maximize plant operational capacity at the lowest possible cost while collaborating closely with other technical and production staff.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess either a Diploma in Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification. Training specifically related to electrical and automation systems used in steel melting and billet casting plants is preferred. The role requires candidates to have between 5 to 8 years of electrical maintenance experience within steel plants, ideally involving steel melting and billet casting processes with a high degree of automation.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical maintenance tasks focusing on preventative and corrective actions during the shift to ensure plant reliability.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team integrating with other technical and production functions.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards and operational procedures.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Comprehensive understanding of steel melting and billet casting operations.
• Basic familiarity with Level 1 automation systems linked to steel melting and billet casting processes.
• Hands-on experience with maintenance of medium voltage substations, transformers, switchgears, PLCs, drives, and motors.
• Competency in using standard office software such as word processing and email.
• Ability to operate and guide others in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, preferably SAP.
