Job Overview
The Shift Lead position at Walgreens in Opp, AL entails managing store operations during management absences, ensuring smooth customer experiences, overseeing inventory, and supporting team members with daily tasks.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the store, including activating necessary systems, handling cash, preparing the sales floor and stockroom, and managing deliveries through the back door.
- Process product returns, handle order voids, manage customer refunds, make cash drops to the safe, and provide change for cash registers as needed.
- Greet and assist customers and patients, resolve their concerns, and maintain a positive and welcoming shopping environment.
- Exemplify and teach excellent customer service practices such as greeting customers warmly, maintaining eye contact, offering proactive assistance, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Hold store keys to open and close without managerial presence when needed.
- Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering, including handling deliveries and receiving stock.
- Maintain accurate sales records on assigned cash registers, including error tracking, price verification, and managing voids.
- Support managers in reviewing order exceptions and processing reverse logistics tasks like returns and empty packages.
- Help develop store displays, including seasonal and promotional setups, and complete related resets and revisions.
- Maintain precise inventory counts across departments, stockrooms, and overstock areas.
- Ensure compliance with the Outdate program and assist with pricing duties, including daily changes and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, cash counts, ledger maintenance, and bill payments as needed.
- Help maintain store cleanliness and organization, reporting any repair needs during managerial absence.
- Support proper food separation and stock rotation using first-in, first-out methods for consumable items.
- Demonstrate knowledge of store systems and equipment operation.
- Provide assistance at the pharmacy window when requested.
- Enforce compliance with laws regulating controlled products such as alcohol and tobacco.
- Perform team member bag checks upon store exit.
- Adhere to all company policies and promote respectful coworker relations.
- Complete special assignments and other duties as directed.
Training & Development
- Attend all required training sessions and complete PPLs as assigned by management.
Communication
- Act as a communication link between management and staff by assigning tasks when management is absent.
- Report any disciplinary matters or customer complaints to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
- Fluent proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking (except in Puerto Rico).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with store inventory control is an advantage.
- Applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
- Possession and maintenance of valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state law.
Additional Information
