About the Role
Are you passionate about electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and want to play a crucial role in maintaining wind turbines? Join Vestas as a Service Technician and contribute to advancing the global shift towards renewable energy. The service team focuses on delivering exceptional maintenance and operational support for wind farms across Australia.
Work Locations and Conditions
- Positions available across regional Australia; this is not a fly-in-fly-out role. Candidates must be located within the servicing regions listed below:
- Western Australia: Merredin, Jurien Bay, Geraldton
- South Australia: Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier
- Victoria: Warrnambool, Ballarat, Sale
- New South Wales: Canberra/Goulburn, Inverell/Glen Innes
- Queensland: Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton
- Tasmania: Musselroe, Granville Harbour
Standard working hours are eight hours per day. Technicians will be on-call roughly once every three to four weekends. Annual travel days average around 50 days.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to strict safety and environmental procedures while achieving service targets.
- Conduct periodic inspections following Vestas' specifications, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic component troubleshooting and replacement.
- Ensure turbines operate smoothly, utilizing condition monitoring and remote control systems.
- Manage service vehicles and maintain warehouse stock by ordering tools, materials, and spare parts as necessary.
- Assemble and service turbine components using proper standards and possibly facility cranes.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulics with enthusiasm to enhance your skills further.
- Proficient computer skills with experience in tools and systems for monitoring and documentation.
- Competent English communication skills, both writing and speaking.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards in the workplace.
- Physically capable of climbing turbines and performing labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel between worksites as needed.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication across diverse stakeholders.
- Self-driven, well-organized, and solution-focused.
