About the Role
This senior role is situated within the Information Products and Services team of the Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO), renowned for its culture of agility, collaboration, and innovative solutions. The position involves leveraging diverse statistical software to analyze, process, and report on statistical data relevant to Queensland.
Primary Responsibilities
- Compile and disseminate economic, demographic, and social statistical information for Queensland through automated workflows and Web Content Management Systems, often under tight deadlines.
- Deliver complex technical guidance, perform analytics, and produce reports for clients and senior officials, effectively managing varying client demands and team priorities with sound judgment and time management.
- Create and sustain statistical reports and databases using tools such as Excel, R, R Shiny, and GitLab.
- Develop and maintain web-based statistical reporting platforms employing technologies like Oracle Database, JavaScript, and Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).
- Produce and update spatial statistical maps utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Lead intricate technical projects, ensuring all outcomes comply with organizational standards regarding accuracy, timeliness, integrity, and quality management methodologies.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of data, adhering strictly to established policies and security protocols.
- Consistently apply statistical classifications, standards, and methodologies across all deliverables.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Significant experience in data processing and analysis using R statistical software.
- Proficient in GIS software for spatial data mapping and analysis.
- Experience handling relational database systems.
- Familiarity with official statistical standards, classifications, and practices.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with capability to juggle multiple priorities and meet stringent deadlines, maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
