About the Role
Hynds Pipe Systems Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to join their Precast and Reinforcing team based in Pokeno, Waikato, New Zealand. This role involves hands-on technical leadership, focusing on optimising site operations, enforcing best manufacturing practices, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality precast products efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring all drawings, materials, moulds, and resources are prepared to fulfil manufacturing schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving assistance to teams and individuals, acting as the primary expert for complex production issues.
- Manage quality control processes including inspections, testing plans, and NCR management to reduce rejects, rework, and waste.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while exemplifying a strong safety and performance culture.
- Promote continuous improvement across production workflows, quality assurance systems, and reporting mechanisms.
- Oversee planning, cost management, and workcentre capacity to maximise labour and machinery efficiency.
- Foster a robust health, safety, and environmental culture by identifying hazards, managing risks, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety rules.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in precast or manufacturing production environments.
- Strong technical expertise in precast manufacturing with the ability to engage in detailed engineering discussions.
- Systematic and solution-driven problem-solving skills with proven continuous improvement and process management experience.
- Proficiency in report writing and strong command of MS Office applications.
- Possession of a valid full driver's licence.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and bring out the best in team members.
- Committed to health and safety with a collaborative and team-oriented attitude.
