Role Overview

The University seeks an experienced Senior Learning Designer to work closely with the Associate Director of Learning and Teaching Design. This role entails providing leadership in the Ranga Auaha Ako team to ensure alignment with the university’s learning and teaching objectives. The incumbent will foster and support high-standard teaching practices by applying learning design expertise alongside relevant technologies and educational frameworks. Establishing strong, influential partnerships with key stakeholders across faculties and units is a critical component of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Project Leadership Portfolio, overseeing the team’s program of projects to optimize planning, processes, compliance, reporting, and analytics.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development support for the team of Learning Designers.
  • Manage project teams within Ranga Auaha Ako and collaborate with Faculties and Units to deliver strategic project outcomes of high quality.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a postgraduate qualification in learning and teaching, education, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Experience as a Learning Designer, educator, facilitator, or comparable professional in learning and teaching.
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and enhancing face-to-face, online, and blended learning modalities.
  • Strong familiarity with learning technologies, digital learning environments, and modern learning design methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and achieve quality results.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with the capacity to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, or fostering professional development in others.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and making learning experiences accessible to diverse student learners.
  • Experience within a tertiary education setting and contributing to learning and teaching strategy is advantageous.

Additional Details
