Role Overview

The Electron Flight Software (FSW) team develops and supports essential software systems for the Electron launch vehicle and kick-stage. Responsibilities include creating avionics control software, telemetry and command systems, and hosting guidance, navigation, and control algorithms. This position requires ownership of several critical components within the Electron FSW architecture and leadership in delivering major projects that ensure full mission success as launch frequency increases. Achieving software reliability and adaptability through careful design, thorough review, and extensive software/hardware-in-the-loop testing is crucial.

Key Qualifications

• Engineering degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• Over 5 years of practical experience in embedded software development using C and C++
• Embedded software development within Linux environments
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic workplace
• Experience with software version control systems, particularly Git
• Development of software and drivers using UDP/TCP for embedded systems
• Familiarity with Embedded Linux deployment methods such as Yocto

Preferred Skills

• Professional background in SoC and FPGA design (e.g. VHDL)
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems like uC/OS or FreeRTOS
• Knowledge of writing embedded applications for multi-threaded and multi-processor systems
• Solid understanding of mathematical and engineering concepts
• Programming experience in Python
• Familiarity with agile development practices
