Senior Field Engineer

Job Overview

The Senior Field Engineer contributes advanced engineering expertise to enhance the field engineering functions within the organization. Acting as an offshore lead, this role involves sharing deep conceptual and hands-on knowledge relevant to field engineering. The engineer develops problem-solving strategies and mitigation plans for complex challenges, applying specialized knowledge to optimize processes and services. This position is central to collaborating with clients, projects, and internal teams, ensuring compliance with client specifications and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze all technical project documents once contracts are awarded, identifying discrepancies between pre- and post-contract documentation as well as gaps in tender method statements.
• Participate in bidding interviews with local and global management.
• Ensure bid submissions are thoroughly reviewed and approved by senior management, with special oversight on diving estimates.
• Draft technical clarifications regarding scope, drawings, and specifications for proposal coordination.
• Devise project plans and assign resources to guarantee the timely delivery of engineering outputs.
• Oversee project progress to prevent significant delays or issues.
• Lead the preparation of installation documentation, procurement, and fabrication materials, ensuring adherence to contract standards.
• Coordinate seamlessly across departments to support project execution.
• Assist procurement and subcontracting teams in selecting qualified suppliers and service providers.
• Plan work sequences, select appropriate equipment, and determine crew compositions and job durations based on historic data.
• Develop bar chart schedules for marine operations including vessel modifications.
• Estimate miscellaneous offshore costs related to rig-ups, clearances, and consumables, integrating inputs from various operational functions.
• Collaborate with Construction Support Engineering on technical drawing preparations for bids.
• Compose safe work procedure documentation for project bids.
• Identify subcontracting needs and prepare technical descriptions and pricing for subcontracted work items such as surveys, dredging, pipeline hauling, and near shore crossings.
• Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and recommend selections for proposals.
• Manage tender resources and scheduling data for financial forecasting.
• Review offshore engineering studies related to tenders.
• Compile comprehensive bid summary books for offshore inputs.
• Create Dive Task Plans for diving-related operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• 7 to 9 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas sector with major contractors or consultancy firms.
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience in operations and field engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, including Macros, and familiarity with MS Project scheduling software.
• Understanding of subcontract activities and Microsoft Office tools.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
