Role Summary

The Senior AI Engineer role entails leading the design, development, and deployment of advanced Agentic AI solutions and enterprise AI platforms within the Data & AI Lab. This senior position demands profound expertise in AI engineering, cloud architecture across Azure and GCP, integration strategies, and banking sector knowledge. The role combines hands-on implementation with technical leadership, ensuring AI solutions are scalable, production-ready, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of complex Agentic AI systems, including autonomous workflows and multi-agent orchestration.
• Establish best practices and architectural patterns for AI agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration.
• Drive adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies and craft innovation strategies.
• Architect and supervise AI platform modules such as vector databases, embedding workflows, and document processing frameworks for enterprise knowledge management.
• Standardize APIs and integration models for AI services bank-wide.
• Lead cloud architecture initiatives ensuring robust, secure, and cost-efficient AI deployments on Azure and GCP platforms.
• Design event-driven AI architectures leveraging Kafka and real-time streaming.
• Develop standards for containerized model deployment on OpenShift/Kubernetes, encompassing monitoring and MLOps protocols.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor teams, and lead design/code reviews to uphold engineering excellence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with enterprise architecture, IT, and compliance to align AI solutions with organizational strategies and regulatory mandates.
• Work closely with AI Product Owners and stakeholders to transform requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicate complex concepts effectively to senior leadership.
• Contribute to AI governance by ensuring adherence to data policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory constraints, while defining SLAs and implementing monitoring mechanisms.

Skills & Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of large language models (LLMs), embedding models, generative AI architectures, and multi-agent AI orchestration frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency with vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch and deployment tools like MLflow and TFX.
• Strong command of Python and AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel.
• Expertise in API design, microservices, event-driven architecture, and advanced SQL (stored procedures, window functions, recursive queries).
• Git-based source control and CI/CD best practices.
• Extensive cloud experience with Azure, GCP, and object storage services (S3, GCS, ABS).
• Familiarity with Kafka, Spark, workflow orchestrators (Airflow, NiFi), and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• MLOps proficiency including model versioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Strong leadership, mentoring capabilities, stakeholder engagement, and data visualization skills for executive communication.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent field.
• Minimum 7 years in software engineering with at least 4 years dedicated to AI/ML development and delivery.
• Proven track record managing AI projects in production within financial services.
• Expertise with enterprise cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP) and Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments.
• Experience in banking or financial sectors with compliance, governance, and security knowledge.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure AI Engineer or GCP ML Engineer are highly desirable.
