Position Summary
Working as a Self-Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers an excellent opportunity to build skills in the retail sector. This role involves delivering outstanding customer service to enhance the shopping experience and aiding customers with transactions at self-service checkouts. This position suits individuals seeking an engaging customer service or retail role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the self-checkout area by keeping it tidy, organized, and free from clutter, debris, loose items, and spills.
- Guide customers on the proper and effective use of self-service checkout systems when needed.
- Promote company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives when applicable.
- Monitor customer activities to assess if help is required and provide assistance accordingly.
- Politely explain interventions or quality checks during self-service use, reassuring customers that such protocols are routine.
- Have thorough knowledge of responding to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and correctly logging "Failure to Deactivate" incidents.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager when there is a shortage of cash in the self-service area or any technical issues arise.
- Return Scan & Go devices to their designated locations after use.
Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this position is $18.85.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
