Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Join Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant and develop essential skills in customer service and retail operations. This role is geared toward individuals eager to engage in a lively retail atmosphere, supporting customers as they complete transactions at self-service checkout points.

Key Duties

• Maintain the self-checkout area by ensuring it is clean, safe, and organized without clutter, spills, or foreign objects.
• Promote Walmart’s programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, as applicable.
• Assist customers in using self-checkout kiosks efficiently, monitoring the area, conducting required verifications, and offering clear, courteous guidance. Escalate cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager as needed.
• Respond promptly to electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms following company procedures and complete the “Failure to Deactivate” documentation accurately.
• Manage Scan & Go devices by ensuring they are returned to their designated stations after use.
• Be flexible in working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands and maintain smooth store operations.

Challenges and Physical Demands

• Handle high volumes of tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment including overnight shifts, ensuring proper energy and focus throughout the work period.
• Perform physical activities such as standing long periods, bending, lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs, and repetitive stocking and zoning tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $19.25 CAD.

Qualifications

Minimum: Be at least 16 years old.
